Agreement

By using Envelope Budget at envelopebudgetapp.com or installed copies (PWA, app store wrappers), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Service

Envelope Budget is a personal budgeting tool. It is not financial, tax, or investment advice. You are responsible for your budget decisions and the accuracy of data you enter.

Accounts

• You must provide a valid email and keep your password secure.
• You may delete your account in Settings → Account. Deletion is permanent.
• We may suspend accounts that abuse the service or violate these terms.
• The app is not directed at children under 13.

Subscriptions

Optional Pro and Pro+ plans are billed through Stripe when purchased on the web. Fees, renewal, and cancellation are governed by Stripe Checkout and the customer portal. Refunds follow Stripe and our support policy.

New accounts may start with a free trial as shown at signup. If you cancel before the trial ends, you should not be charged for that period. Promotional discounts (including friend-link offers) apply only as stated at checkout and do not change these terms.

Share & earn (referral partners)

Envelope Budget’s Share & earn program lets you share a unique page so friends can try the app. If they become paying customers through your unique link or code, you may earn a share of what we keep on their subscription. Applying for or using a share page means you agree to this section. These are the “terms apply” rules linked from Share & earn.

Who can participate

• You need a signed-in Envelope Budget account.
• We may approve, decline, pause, or end share pages at our discretion, including for abuse or policy violations.
• Walkthrough / demo accounts are not eligible to refer or be referred.
• Participation does not create employment, agency, or a legal partnership. You are an independent participant responsible for your own taxes on amounts we pay you.

How friends are attributed

• Share your page (/r/your-code), QR, or a link with your referral code. First qualifying attribution wins; later codes on the same account are ignored.
• We may remember a referral in an HttpOnly cookie for a short period before signup. After signup we store which share page referred the account.
• You cannot attribute your own account (self-referrals). Fraudulent, incentivized-in-violation, bot, or abusive traffic is not eligible.

What friends get

Referred friends typically get a 7-day free trial and half off their first paid month, as shown on your page and at checkout. Offers can change. Their use of the app is still governed by these terms and the Privacy Policy.

What you earn

• Commission is a percentage of net subscription revenue from that customer — what we keep after Stripe processing costs on the qualifying invoice — not the sticker price and not what they can spend after rent.
• The rate and duration shown in your Share & earn dashboard apply to you. Unless we show a month cap, you earn for as long as that customer stays on a qualifying paid plan. If a month cap is shown, you earn only for that many paid months; after that, remaining subscription revenue stays with Envelope Budget.
• Typical program defaults (unless your dashboard shows otherwise): 30% of what we keep; no month cap (for as long as they stay); monthly invoices held about 30 days for refunds and chargebacks; yearly invoices vest over the paid year (typically twelve slices, each held about 30 days from that slice); payouts once your ready balance reaches $10. We do not pay a full year of commission 30 days after an annual invoice.
• Only attributed, qualifying paid subscriptions count. Free trials, unpaid periods, complimentary showcase accounts, and invoices we refund or that charge back generally do not pay (we claw back unpaid commission on those invoices).
• Custom influencer rates may be set on a partner account. Rates, duration caps, hold periods, and minimums may change with notice. The dashboard at the time a commission is earned is the record for that month.

Payouts

• Payouts go to you as a person (an individual recipient), not a store. Bank details are collected by Stripe Connect. We do not store your full bank account number.
• You must complete Stripe’s identity checks before we can send money. A backup payout email in the app is optional and does not replace bank setup.
• We send ready balances that meet the minimum. Timing can vary with Stripe, banking rails, and holds. Unpaid commissions can be reversed for refunds, disputes, or fraud.
• You are responsible for any taxes, reporting, and Stripe recipient requirements that apply to you (the program is set up for US individuals).

Your share page

• Keep your display name, photo, and copy accurate and lawful. Do not impersonate Envelope Budget or promise results we do not offer.
• Do not bid on our brand terms, scrape the service, or use misleading ads. We may reclaim codes that infringe trademarks or confuse users.

Acceptable use

Do not attempt to break security, scrape other users’ data, or use the app for unlawful purposes.

Availability

We strive for reliable hosting but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Maintenance, outages, or third-party failures may occur.

Limitation of liability

The service is provided “as is.” To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the app, Share & earn participation, or reliance on budget outputs.

Changes

We may update these terms. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do.
